Turkey is preparing to attack the Kurds in the west of the Syrian province of Idlib, Bloomberg and SANA report, citing their sources. According to Bloomberg, Turkey has deployed “hundreds” of troops in northern Syria as part of a possible offensive. The Syrian agency SANA writes about the transfer of a convoy of 200 trucks with ammunition and weapons to Idlib by the Turkish military.

Over the night of October 26-27, Turkey deployed “hundreds more” troops in northern Syria in preparation for an offensive against US-backed Kurdish forces, two officials told Bloomberg.

SANA sources previously said the military reinforcements included vehicles, armored vehicles, weapons and logistic equipment. According to them, the transfer of the convoy was accompanied by drone flights throughout the entire border.

On October 26, the agency reported that the Turkish military fired on settlements in the vicinity of the city of Tel Tamr in the northwest of Hasake province, delivering artillery strikes on four villages.

Earlier, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey is going to eliminate threats emanating from Kurdish formations in northern Syria. “The latest attack on our police officers and attacks aimed at our lands have already overwhelmed our patience,” he said at the time.

At the end of September, negotiations between Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin took place in Sochi. The meeting took place against the backdrop of a new exacerbation in Idlib.
