Turkey carried out drone attacks in Syria on Thursday, October 5, against military targets and infrastructure in regions under Kurdish control, killing at least eleven people, members of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced. One of the Turkish drones, considered threatening, was shot down by American forces.
The Turkish army also “neutralized” 26 Kurdish militants in northern Syria overnight in retaliation for a rocket attack on a Turkish base, the defense ministry said. Ankara generally uses the term “neutralize” to mean kill.
This series of attacks comes four days after an attack in Ankara claimed by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
