Turkey-Syria earthquake: Germany to grant emergency visas to victims

Berlin: Germany will grant emergency visas to Turkey-Syria earthquake victims. This was announced by Germany’s Interior Minister Nancy Fesser.

Earlier, Germany had suspended the rescue operation in Turkey citing security reasons. There are about 29 lakh people of Turkish origin in Germany. Astria similarly suspended rescue operations. After this, Germany has announced that it will grant visas to those in Turkey.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the earthquake has crossed 28,000. 3575 people died in Syria. 1 million people lost their homes in Turkey due to the earthquake. 80,000 people are still being treated in hospital.
