The Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan congratulated Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov on winning the gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
Day.Az reports this with reference to the embassy’s publication on the social network “X”.
“We warmly congratulate Hidayat Heydarov, who won the gold medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and raised the flag of Azerbaijan in France,” the publication says.
It should be noted that the day before, Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov became the winner of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
The athlete in the 73 kg weight category won the Olympic gold medal, defeating Frenchman John Benjamin Gaba in the final.
It should be noted that Hidayat Heydarov, who entered the fight from the 1/8 finals, defeated Tohar Butbul (Israel) at this stage. In the 1/4 finals, he beat Artur Margelidon (Canada), and in the semi-finals – Akilah Gzhakov (Kosovo).
This is the first Olympics in the career of Hidayat Heydarov.
