A total of 1,549 kg of methamphetamine and stimulants were seized during an operation against drug trafficking by Turkish security forces, BTA reports.

According to information from TRT Haber, the operation under the code name “Narkoçelik-30” was carried out in Istanbul and Yalova.

Following a tip-off that drugs had been delivered by ship from Iran, the teams launched a simultaneous operation at different addresses in the two cities.

“In the operation conducted at 8 different addresses in Istanbul, 240 kilograms of methamphetamine were confiscated. In Yalova, 1259 kilograms of methamphetamine in liquid form, 50 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 77 kilograms of narcotic stimulants were confiscated during searches at 2 different addresses. 8 people were detained. The investigation is ongoing,” Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on the Ex platform.

According to him, the narcotic substances and stimulants were delivered to Istanbul, from where they were transported to a rural house in Yalova, used as a center for the distribution and placement of drugs and stimulants.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the Directorates for the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime in Istanbul and Yalova and with teams of the regional gendarmerie.
