Türkiye bombs Iraq and Syria

At least 59 members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were killed in the bombings against Iraq and Syria, reported the Turkish Ministry of Defense.

Through a ministerial statement, it was indicated that the air attack in northern Iraq and Syria as reprisal to the attack in Ankara, neutralized “59 terrorists, including two high-ranking members (….) where 47 terrorist targets have been hit since last night.”

Likewise, the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (FSD), which Ankara considers an affiliate of the PKK, reported that 12 people, including, two children died and 25 others were injured during the bombings.

Prior to the official statement, the FSD reported the destruction of 32 objectives “terrorists” in the north of both territories and warned that operations “will continue decisively.”

Wednesday’s attack, carried out by two attackers identified as members of the PKK, occurred near the facilities of the Turkish Aerospace Industry. Consequently, both attackers died in a confrontation with the police.

Türkiye, the United States and the European Union consider the PKK a terrorist group because it began an armed struggle in 1983 to achieve autonomy for the Kurds living in Turkish territory.
