/ Turkey announced, today, Tuesday, that it will impose restrictions on the export of products from 54 different categories to Israel until a ceasefire is declared in the Gaza Strip.
The Turkish Ministry of Commerce said, in a statement following Ankara’s announcement that it would take measures after Israel rejected its request to participate in the airdrop operation, that the measures would take effect immediately, according to Reuters.
The Ministry stated that the restrictions will include iron and steel products, construction equipment and products, machinery, and others.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said earlier that Israel had rejected a request submitted by Turkey to join efforts to drop humanitarian aid by air to the Palestinians in Gaza, and that Ankara would respond to Israel with new measures.
Fidan said in a statement to the media, “We also conveyed our request to join this humanitarian aid operation with cargo planes belonging to the (Turkish) Air Force. We learned today that Israel rejected our request despite positive intervention from the Jordanian authorities.”
