According to Anatolia News Agency, Fidan said during a press conference held with Belgian Foreign Minister Bernard Quentin in Ankara: “If there is a majority or minority that feels that it is in trouble during the new phase in Syria, Turkey is its protector, regardless of who it is.”
He added: “In the new period, if there is a majority or minority in Syria that feels upset and anxious, regardless of who they are: Nusayris, Alawites, Yazidis, Christians, whoever they are, Turkey is their shepherd and protector, just like others in Syria.”
He said: “We are doing our best to prevent these people from being exposed to problems in Syria, and the new Syrian administration is very sensitive in this regard.”
He continued: “God willing, nothing will happen to anyone, but if a problem occurs, our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is very sensitive about this issue and his principles are clear.”
