Whether on television or in the restaurant kitchen: Naomi Pomeroy was celebrated in the USA for her culinary creations. Now she died on an excursion.

The chef Naomi Pomeroy, who became known in the USA primarily through her participation in TV shows such as “Top Chef Masters” and “The Taste”, has died in a water sports accident at the age of 49. Last weekend, Pomeroy and a group, including her husband Kyle Linden Webster, were out on tires and paddleboards on the Willamette River in the US state of Oregon.

They hit a partially submerged branch and capsized. While the others made it to shore, Pomeroy was unable to free herself from the rope attached to the board and was pulled underwater, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. The rescue was difficult due to the strong currents, and the celebrity chef drowned.

Pomeroy was the owner of the renowned restaurant “Beast” in Portland and was celebrated for her culinary creations. The association “StarChefs” honored her with a post on Instagram.

“With bold brushstrokes and thoughtful precision, she created unforgettable experiences for guests at her restaurant, Beast, and received well-deserved recognition and awards for her work in the kitchen,” the post said.

“Her generous spirit was infectious, and her leadership and dedication to others in the industry was tireless. In and out of the kitchen, Pomeroy was a creative force, an entrepreneur of many talents who could both cook and create floral arrangements with soul. Her warmth, kindness and vibrancy will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with her family and the hospitality community of Portland and beyond.”
