TV offers for an austere summer

Changes. Networks save their big bets for the high season and leave their less competitive content for the holidays

Gone are those summers in which the heifers of the ‘Grand Prix’ sneaked into the small screen alternating with musical and humorous galas that toured the most touristic places in the country. For the summer months of July and August 2022, the networks have prepared an austere offer, where the commitment to foreign fiction, cinema and the broadcast of sporting events predominates.

the 1

‘Parot’ and a new contest

La 1 will bid farewell to the tenth edition of ‘Masterchef’ in the coming weeks and will continue to dedicate Thursday nights to Spanish fiction with ‘Parot’, a ‘thriller’ starring Adriana Ugarte, Iván Massagué and Javier Albalá. In the ‘day time’, the morning ‘La hora de La 1’ will kick off its summer edition, which will be reinforced with the journalist Lluis Guilera as presenter together with Marc Sala and Silvia Intxaurrondo. After the cancellation of ‘España direct’, a new contest will be broadcast at 7:50 p.m. starting today, ‘Te has touched’, under the command of Raúl Gómez. The Tour de France or the Vuelta Ciclista a España will be TVE’s sports bets for after-dinner. In addition, the public channel will dedicate a large part of its ‘prime time’ to the broadcast of films, with a cycle dedicated to Spanish cinema on Saturdays and another starring the actor and director Clint Eastwood on Fridays. The Sanfermines and the retransmission of the Madrid Pride event will be other events that will be covered by the first channel.

the 2

Issue of ‘Montalbano’

For this summer, La 2 brings back one of TVE’s classic series, ‘Curro Jiménez’, which will be offered from today, Monday to Friday, at 2:20 p.m. The veteran ‘Saber y Gana’ will continue to be broadcast, while the nights will continue to be dedicated to classic (Monday), Spanish (Friday and Sunday) and European (Saturday) cinema. On Tuesdays, the slot will be filled by ‘El Comisario Montalbano’, which will be offered in its entirety in the summer and with a special broadcast that will culminate with the last episode of the series, unpublished on Spanish open television.

Antenna 3

The vein of Turkish fiction

The news will not stop at the Atresmedia chain. Susanna Griso will take a vacation in ‘Public Mirror’ and Lorena García will once again take over the reins of the magazine. The contests ‘La roulette de la suerte’ and ‘Pasapalabra’ will not rest, nor will the series ‘Tierra amarga’. The big bet of the summer, which Antena 3 premiered last Sunday with ratings success (almost two million viewers), is the Turkish fiction ‘Hermanos’. ‘Infiel’ and the French ‘ACI’ will also continue to be broadcast. ‘La Voz Kids’ will enter its final phase during the month of July.

Four

‘Travellers’, a classic

Mediaset’s second chain will keep its daily slots on the air (‘In everyone’s mouth’, ‘Everything is a lie’, ‘Cuatro al día’) while Carlos Sobera will continue helping to find love with the dating program ‘First dates’ . Starting tonight (10:45 p.m.), Cuatro is betting on the fifth season of ‘Viajeros Cuatro’, which will kick off in Gran Canaria with Conexión Pasillo and Omar Sánchez. In the new installments, the program travels around the world again after the pandemic and adds Sicily, London and Slovenia to its list of destinations outside our borders along with Panama, Israel and Los Angeles. The broadcast of the new chapters of ‘FBI: Most Wanted’ is also planned.

Telecinco

The return of ‘CSI: Las Vegas’

In July, Telecinco will continue with its most powerful formats: ‘Survivors’, ‘Sálvame Mediafest’ and ‘Deluxe’. Starting this afternoon (8:00 p.m.), the network is extending the pink magazine presented by Jorge Javier Vázquez by one hour with ‘Sálvame Sandía’, which will feature, among its novelties, the addition of Carlos Lozano to visit different beaches in the country. In the morning, Joaquín Prat, Ana Terradillos and Patricia Pardo will take turns presenting ‘The Summer Program’, which will continue live in July and August, as will ‘Ya es midday’. In addition, Mediaset plans to release two fictions soon: the Italian series ‘Blanca’, based on the novels by Patrizia Rinaldi, and the return of the mythical ‘CSI: Las Vegas’, which brings back Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle. Lastly, in August, the chain will launch a new magazine -to replace ‘Viva la vida’, which ends in three weeks- for the weekend. It will be titled ‘It’s already summer’ and will feature Frank Blanco, Verónica Dulanto and Marta González Novo as presenters.

The sixth

Bet on information

The informative lung of La Sexta will continue in July and August with ‘Al Rojo Vivo’, ‘Better late’ and the news. On Saturdays there will also be ‘La seixta noche’, which incorporates the journalist Paula del Fraile for the summer months. Lastly, the Atresmedia chain will dedicate Tuesday to foreign fiction with the premiere of ‘Six’, starring Walton Goggins.
