Parkinson’s Disease Information Event to be Held for Twelfth Time at Augusta Hospital

Isselburg, Germany – Parkinson’s Disease Day is set to take place for the twelfth time at the Augusta Hospital on September 2nd. The event aims to provide valuable information and support for individuals and families affected by Parkinson’s disease. Registration is required to secure a spot at the event.

Parkinson’s disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that typically develops slowly and affects individuals between the ages of 60 and 80. Although a cure for the disease is not yet available, there are treatments that can effectively manage the symptoms, allowing patients to maintain an active and independent life.

The Augusta Hospital is thrilled to host the information event, which will feature numerous informative lectures from experts in the field. Virginia Wie-Ying Sun, a Senior Physician from the Augusta Hospital’s Neurological Clinic 2, will discuss swallowing disorders in Parkinson’s disease. Anja Jung, Head of the Issel Nursing Service, will explain nursing services and outpatient offers.

Following a short break, Dr. Marius Humpert, medical director and chief physician of the neurological specialist clinic, will discuss drug pumps as a therapy option for advanced Parkinson’s syndrome. Maike von Oldenburg, a neuropsychologist at the Augusta Hospital, will present on psychological counseling for Parkinson’s disease.

The event will also provide an opportunity for individuals affected by Parkinson’s and their relatives to connect and exchange stories. Information stands will be available, and attendees can enjoy coffee while engaging with other patients, families, and Augusta Hospital staff.

The information event will take place on Saturday, September 2nd, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Herzebocholt Citizens’ Hall in Isselburg, just a few kilometers away from the Augusta Hospital.
