On March 1, 2012, Lucio Dalla died in a hotel in Montreux, Switzerland, where he performed at a jazz festival, three days later he would have turned 69: 4/3/1943, like the title of one of his most famous songs.

His Bologna remembers him with a program of initiatives entitled “Organized trips”like the album which marks its fortieth anniversary.

On 4 March – the day on which the singer would have turned 81 – at the Celebrazioni theatre, the event “Ciao review Lucio Dalla”, hosted by Nina Zilli and broadcast with a special on 6 April in the late evening on Rai1 and in simulcast on Rai Radio2.

In the evening, in light of Dalla’s attention towards new talents, the winners of the “Ballerini Dalla 2024” will be awarded, the prize which takes its name from the song “Balla balla ballerino”. For innovative forms of music and creativity, Daniela Pes, Calcutta, Madame, Dardust, Brunori Sas, the Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, the artist Yuri and the writer Enrico Brizzi will be awarded.

The initiatives in his memory are intended to be a party, a celebration of his multifaceted talent and his attention towards others. “Pioneer of total affectivity”, Roberto Vecchioni defined him.

And in fact he was also a talent scout: his record label, Pressing Srl, is based in Bologna, which launched Stadio, Ron, Luca Carboni, Samuele Bersani and allowed the artistic rebirth of Gianni Morandi. Dalla also composed some music for films: he created the soundtracks of “Borotalco” by Carlo Verdone, “I picari” by Mario Monicelli, “Beyond the clouds” by Michelangelo Antonioni, “Pummarò” by Michele Placido, just to name a few.

Dalla had one jazz training and was the author of the lyrics of his songs. In a mature stage, she played clarinet, saxophone and keyboards. A prolific artist, his output has ranged from beat to rhythmic and musical experimentationup to songwriting, reaching the point of crossing the boundaries of opera.

Other events to remember him, again within the “Organized Trips” initiatives, will be on March 5th, when there will be a comparison between artists at Lucio’s housethen a training course for students of the Dalla musical high school, laboratories for the young patients of the Sant’Orsola Polyclinic and meetings on the singer-songwriter’s lyrics and music.
