Twenty-five years after the handover, Hong Kong newspapers have fallen into line

The Hong Kong press dons the colors of China this 1is July, sporting the red of the celebrations of the 25e anniversary of the handover of the British colony. All the newspapers devote their front page to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s arrival speech in the special administrative region (SAR) on June 30. It has known since its last visit five years ago, many vicissitudes, said the Chinese president, before launching:

“’One country, two systems’ is a good system.”

Le Ming Pao makes this sentence its title of the 1is July and devotes its entire front page to the event: a single photo of Xi Jinping on the podium, and at the bottom of the page, a group photo of the local personalities whom Xi met the day before.
