Twenty20 World Cup; Shami replaces Bumrah in the team

Mumbai: Pace bowler Mohammad Shami has been included in the Indian team for the Twenty20 World Cup starting on October 16 in Australia. Earlier, India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrak lost his place in the team due to an outside injury. With this, Shami, who was in the standby list, got an invitation to the team.

Pace bowlers Mohammad Siraj and Shardul Thakur will travel to Australia to join the team as backup bowlers. India’s first match of the tournament will be against Pakistan on October 23.

Shami is currently in Australia. He will soon join the Indian players in Brisbane for warm-up matches, the BCCI said.
