After the MJSP (Ministry of Justice and Public Security) requested that Twitter delete the account of 431 users responsible for disseminating hashtags in support of recent attacks on schools in Brazil, the platform countered by denying the request, justifying that the posts did not act in a correct way. contrary to the terms of use.

The document was classified as “urgent” and signed by attorney Yuri Corrêa da Luz. The data contained therein mention the main attacks against Brazilian schools in recent days, such as the case of the 13-year-old minor offender who stabbed three other students at an educational institution in the state of Goiás.
- The prosecutor requested that Twitter point out which profiles and contents were identified by the Ministry of Justice as “harmful”;
- He also questions whether there was any kind of moderation for these posts and what criteria were applied;
- The folder identified more than 500 Twitter profiles disseminating violent material against schools on April 8 and 9;
- Luz also requests clarification on “other measures adopted, in this period, in terms of moderation of content related to threats of attacks on schools”.
Such collection of information is, in this case, due to assess the platform’s possible responsibility for violations of fundamental rights that may result from the finding of deficiency in its policy to combat social misinformation.
