Twitter said the company will announce which employees will be laid off at 12 midnight local time.
An email to that effect was sent to Twitter staff.
The email states that Twitter has been forced to make drastic layoffs from its global workforce in order to steer the company on the right track.
The company announced that all offices will be temporarily closed to protect Twitter infrastructure and user information.
Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is said to be planning to lay off almost half of his employees.
That equates to nearly 3,700 people.
Mr. Musk bought Twitter last month for $44 billion.
