Microblogging service Twitter is going to introduce new features for messaging, as well as voice and video calls. This was announced by the owner of the social network Elon Musk, and also clarified that this can be done without linking a phone number.

Chat messaging will be added in the coming days, they will be encrypted. Voice and video calls will be added later, it is not known whether they will be encrypted. Elon Musk first announced the possibility of sending encrypted messages, long tweets and microtransactions at the end of last year – new features will help the billionaire create “Twitter 2.0”.

Earlier, Elon Musk announced that Twitter is going to delete user accounts that have been inactive for several years – deleted accounts will be archived. Also in April 2022, Twitter began removing verification checkboxes from those who did not have a paid subscription: according to the new rules of the service, only paid Twitter Blue subscribers worth $8 per month can receive verification.
