Car crashed and killed in accident at Kakkavayal Nursery stop

Meenangadi : Kakkavayal was in shock of the tragedy that came without stopping. Although the number of accidents on the National Highway from Muttil to Kolagapara is high, the locals were saddened by the number of accidents and the loss of three lives.

Three members of a family traveling in a car were killed when a tanker lorry collided with a car in Kakkavayal. The deceased have been identified as Praveesh (39), wife Sreejisha (32) and Praveesh’s mother Premalatha (60) of Puthenpura, Tamil Nadu. Arav (two and a half) son of Praveesh and Sreejisha was admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode with serious injuries.

The accident happened near the Kakkavayal nursery stop around 11.30 am on Tuesday. The car in which Praveesh and his family were traveling collided with a Milma tanker lorry while they were returning from a wedding at Balussery Nanmanda in Kozhikode. The lorry was coming from Sultanbathery to Kalpetta. The car was completely destroyed in the accident. Praveesh and Premalatha were rushed to Kalpetta Leo Hospital and Sreejisha to Kainatti General Hospital but succumbed to their injuries. Praveesh’s father is Vijayan.

The tragic loss of his father, mother and grandmother added to the pain of the accident. Arav, who was critically injured, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode. Residents rushed to the spot when they heard a loud bang when a tanker lorry collided with a car. The impact of the thunder is evident from the crash of the car itself. The car was completely wrecked. The bodies were taken to the Bathery Taluk Hospital mortuary after completing the Meenangadi police inquest. Police said further investigation would shed light on the cause of the accident. There have been minor and major accidents on the National Highway from Muttil to Kolagapara in the past. Observations, including the interceptor, are also made in this area.
