Danny Abdia Under the Basket (Reuters)
Danny Abdia celebrated his 21st birthday in Washington’s game against Charlotte, and on a relatively bizarre evening set a season-high (40), a career-high of eight (eight) and a career-high of steals (four) in the Wizards’ 121-124 win over Charlotte . The Israeli also contributed seven points, but scored only one shot out of seven from the field.
Abdia as mentioned recorded an uncharacteristic game, and so did Washington, who opened with a storm and led 25:38 at the end of the first quarter, but collapsed in the second quarter (39:18). In the third quarter the Wizards managed to offset a bit of the difference, and in the final quarter Kyle Kozma stood out with two clutch threes that secured the win en route to a positive 18:19 balance.
Kozma finished with 36 points, six assists and 14 rebounds, while Bradley Bill contributed 35 points and eight assists. Washington played in a particularly short roster and without nine players who went into isolation because of the Corona Protocol, but that did not stop them from celebrating. For the Hornets, Gordon Hayward stood out with 27 points, Miles Bridges added 23 points and 14 rebounds and Terry Rosier finished with 25 points.
