Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mobile court has declared two multi-storied commercial buildings in Gulshan-2 of the capital as dangerous due to lack of fire prevention system.

DNCC Zone-3 Executive Magistrate Julkar Nayan hung the ‘dangerous’ banner on the two buildings on Wednesday (March 6) afternoon. He was accompanied by City Corporation Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan and Fire Service and Civil Defense officials.

Earlier, at 12 noon, the mobile court fined Tk 1 lakh to the ‘Kacchi Bhai’ restaurant of holding number 33, road number 46 of Gulshan-2. Another restaurant called Dhansindi was fined 40,000.

Executive Magistrate Zulkar Nayan said the commercial building of holding number 33 has many restaurants. But, none of them have fire fighting system. Besides, there is a residential hotel called ‘The H’ on the second and third floors of the building. Although there are two stairs on both sides of the building, it is narrow. In such a situation, how the hotel got the approval, all the documents have been asked to be given by the afternoon. Further action will be decided after looking at the documents.

It is to be noted that 46 people were killed in a terrible fire at Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road on the night of February 29.
