On January 17, the Ministry of Industry and Trade completed the collection of bids for the conclusion of a special investment contract (SPIC 2.0) for the development and introduction of electric vehicles into production, the press service of the ministry reported. Two applications were submitted – from Lipetsk “Motorinvest” and from the company “Electromobili Manufacturing Rus” from St. Petersburg. Under the terms of the competition, they will have to go through several stages of examination. “One or more applications can be recognized as the best. The results of the competitive selection will be summed up by March 5, ”the Ministry of Industry and Trade reports.

The competition was initiated by Motorinvest. Initially, the Chinese Haval was going to submit an application for a SPIC on electric cars, a Vedomosti source familiar with the company’s plans knows. This is confirmed by data from the state information system “Industry”. But in the end, the company from China did not come to the competition and now will not be able to do so, since the deadline for accepting applications expired on January 14. A representative of Haval confirmed to Vedomosti that the company is not participating in the current competition. He also noted that the manufacturer is considering the possibility of assembling electric vehicles in Russia. According to him, the development of charging infrastructure is of decisive importance in this matter.
