Two firefighters were injured while extinguishing the large fire that broke out this evening in a factory near the Plovdiv village of Tsaratsovo.
This was reported by the Help Center in the city. One suffered minor burns and the second suffered a leg injury as a result of being struck by an iron.
The injured firefighters were taken to St. George Hospital. One was released after his examination, and the other was admitted for treatment.
Concerned residents of Tsaratsovo have left the village and gone to relatives in other settlements. The area around the fire has been cordoned off by police patrol cars, which will remain there during the night until the extinguishing is complete. An inspection will be carried out tomorrow to determine the cause of the accident and establish the extent of the damage, the Ministry of the Interior said.
A team of the SOD sector is measuring the air along the track of the cloud, but at the moment no dangerous concentrations have been reported. However, people do not believe because the smoke cloud is very thick and dense and can be seen from kilometers away.
The regional governor, Prof. Hristina Yancheva, stated that the fire has been contained, but extinguishing operations continue. At this stage, there is no danger to the lives of people in the populated areas and in the area of the fire. It became clear that three tires of the transport company located next to the fire were burnt. According to her, there is no danger to the neighboring villages.
