Russia declared two German diplomats persona non grata
Two German diplomats have been declared persona non grata, according to the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry. This decision was made in response to similar actions by Germany, the ministry said.
On Monday, December 20, German Ambassador to Russia Geza Andreas von Geir was summoned to the Foreign Ministry. The German diplomat “was lodged with a strong protest” over the decision of the German authorities to expel two diplomatic officers and the verdict on the Russian citizen in the case of the murder of a Georgian citizen in August 2019.
The Russian side will invariably adequately respond in a proportionate manner to any “potential confrontational attacks by Berlin” in the future, the Foreign Ministry added.
The material is being supplemented.
