Two Israeli women were killed today (Friday) in a fatal car accident near Batumi, Georgia, the Foreign Ministry announced. 17 others were injured in the incident. The Israeli consulate is on its way to the accident area. Reports in the local media indicate that the fatal accident occurred after a truck collided with a bus carrying the Israelis. The group, in which the two Israelis were members, was on its way to Mahontesti Falls.
Embassy of Israel in Georgia, Myrtle from wheresaid that “Immediately, together with the consul at the Hadas Cohen embassy and the department for Israelis abroad in the consular wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we began to deal with the accident in order to help the victims as well as to work with the Georgian authorities in order to speed up the handling of the procedures.” She added, “We are doing our best The efforts to get there as soon as possible in order to closely support and help.”
The ambassador and the consul, Hadas Cohen, left Tbilisi and arrived at the scene of the accident, a five-hour drive away. They are now visiting the injured, helping the citizens and dealing with the Georgian authorities.
