Two Israelis Killed in Suspected Palestinian Gun Attack in Occupied West Bank

Two Israelis died in a ham Palestinian shooting attack in the town of Huwara, in the occupied West Bank, reported an Israeli Army spokesman, who specified that the perpetrators fled.

“Recently an alleged shooting attack was carried out against several Israeli civilians in the city of Huwara. Two civilians were killed as a result of the shooting,” said a military statement, adding that “Israel Defense Forces soldiers they are chasing the suspects and have blocked roads in the area.

The Israeli emergency medical service Magen David Adom (MDA) explained that the victims are a 60-year-old man and another 29, who were hit by gunfire at a car wash.

“When we arrived, we found two injured people, a 60-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, inside the car wash. Both they were unconscious and had gunshot wounds to their bodies. Together with the Army medical team, we provided immediate medical treatment at the scene and began advanced resuscitation procedures,” said Tomer Gusman, an MDA paramedic, whose spokesman confirmed the deaths of both men shortly afterward.

The Islamist Hamas movement, which governs the Gaza Strip, said in a statement that “the heroic shooting in Huwara is the result of the firm and continuous promise of resistance (Palestinian) to defend their people and respond to the crimes of the (Israeli) occupation”.

The resistance attacks will continue and will extend to the Army of occupation and its settlers,” added a Hamas spokesman, who however did not claim responsibility for the attack. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad group also welcomed the attack, mentioning that it is “the natural and legitimate response to the crimes of the (Israeli) occupation ) against the Palestinian people”.

Spiral of violence in the area

The attack this Saturday in Huwara coincides with the death today of a 19-year-old Palestinian product of a shot by the Israeli army last Wednesday during clashes triggered by a military raid in the West Bank city of Nablus, according to the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa.
