/ Turkish security authorities reported on Sunday that two people were killed in a police helicopter crash in southern Turkey.

A police helicopter crashed in the south of the country late Saturday, killing two police officers and injuring one person, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said in a post on the social media platform Aks.

He pointed out that the helicopter took off from Hatay Airport and was heading to Gaziantep Airport, and contact was lost with it at 10:29 pm (1949 GMT).

He added that the helicopter crashed near the village of Kartal in the Nurdagi district of Gaziantep, without commenting on the cause of the accident.

For his part, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said in a statement that the injured person is a technician who is currently receiving treatment in the hospital.
