Two motorcyclists died in a direct collision on the Ibar Highway near Ljig, Serbia, leaving a female passenger seriously injured and currently hospitalized in Belgrade. The Sunday afternoon crash, which involved vehicles registered in Belgrade and Bajina Bašta, is under active investigation by authorities.
A tragic weekend collision on the Ibar Highway approximately four kilometers from Ljig claimed the lives of two motorcyclists and left a third person hospitalized with severe injuries. The fatal crash occurred on Sunday at around 17:15, when two motorcycles collided head-on while navigating a curve on the roadway.
Identities of the Victims and Condition of the Injured Passenger
The victims were identified as Aleksandar V., a 31-year-old resident of Užice, and Ivan T., a 47-year-old man. A third person involved in the crash, Ivan T.’s wife and motorcycle passenger, sustained heavy trauma during the impact. She received initial medical stabilization at the hospital in Valjevo before her transfer due to the severity of her condition to the Emergency Center in Belgrade. Hospital officials confirmed she is currently out of danger, though family members noted that her recovery process will be prolonged.
Family, friends, and community members have shared widespread tributes online, remembering Aleksandar V. as a dedicated brother and uncle who was widely cherished by children and peers alike. Meanwhile, acquaintances of Ivan T. noted that he was an enthusiastic motorcycle rider and a member of the Srbi

Ongoing Investigation into the Ljig Highway Crash
The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Mionica assumed jurisdiction over the case and dispatched duty prosecutors to conduct an on-site investigation. Authorities are working to establish the exact chain of events that led to the direct impact between the two motorbikes. Separate reporting from regional outlets noted preliminary, unverified accounts suggesting an automobile may have crossed into the opposing traffic lane before the fatal impact with a motorcycle, though official investigative findings on the vehicle’s involvement remain pending. As reported by Rina, a source familiar with this tragic event stated that, according to information that remains unofficial for now, a car crossed into the opposite lane and collided directly with a motorcycle, and a young man from Lunovo Selo was killed.
Investigators are utilizing forensic evidence and vehicle examinations to clarify the circumstances. The collision involved a motorcycle carrying Belgrade license plates and another registered in Bajina Bašta.
