Two people died and dozens were injured as houses collapsed due to rain in Sabha

Heavy rains and torrential floods that swept through the city of Sabha on Saturday led to the death of two people and the injury of dozens as a result of the collapse of several houses.

Sabha Medical Center stated on its Facebook page that “a number of serious injuries were reported as a result of the collapse, including a pelvic fracture and 14 injuries.”
The center added that the medical center’s clinics recorded “the death of a young man who was electrocuted due to his contact with exposed electrical wires as a result of heavy rains.”

He called for caution and following safety instructions, not swimming in ponds and swamps, and not touching electrical cables.

Later, a state of emergency was declared at Sabha Medical Center due to drowning.

The Municipal Council in Sabha confirmed the registration of two deaths and 33 injuries, according to the latest updates published on its official page, and called on citizens affected by the rains to go to Al-Wahda School in Al-Jadeed neighborhood, as it has been approved as a place to shelter the affected families.

Social media sites broadcast scenes showing several streets flooded as a result of the water level rising to unprecedented levels, in addition to the collapse of 3 houses on the heads of their residents, in addition to the flooding of the Sabha Medical Center and the 2nd of March Hospital, and the power outage in the city.

The National Center of Meteorology called on residents to stay away from floods and valleys, with expectations of thunderstorms.
