Two Seahawks running backs return for Monday night game

Running backs Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price carry no injury designations for Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears at Lumen Field. Charbonnet makes his 2026 season debut following a torn ACL, while Price returns from injured reserve after missing four games with a chest injury.

The Seattle Seahawks backfield takes on a completely different look as two key rushers return to action. Emanuel Wilson and George Holani carried the load over the past few weeks, but the roster dynamics shift immediately with the availability of both Charbonnet and Price for the primetime matchup.

Charbonnet Returns From January Knee Surgery

Charbonnet steps back onto the field just over eight months after undergoing surgery for a torn left ACL sustained during the divisional round of the playoffs on January 17, 2025. The 25-year-old running back rushed for 730 yards and a career-high 12 touchdowns during his most productive NFL campaign prior to the injury.

Seattle activated him off the physically unable to perform list on October 22, the final day of his 21-day practice window. Head coach Mike Macdonald praised the running back’s dedication during his lengthy rehabilitation process.

To come back on the timetable that he has and to be in the position that he is, and the work ethic that he’s shown and being able to work through what it takes to get back from an injury like that at this point in time is remarkable.

Macdonald added that Charbonnet is a three-down back who can run a significant route tree out of the backfield. The coaching staff enters the contest with a structured plan for his workload and snap counts, though those figures might adjust as the game unfolds.

Price Activated From Injured Reserve Ahead of Kickoff

The Seahawks officially activated Jadarian Price from injured reserve on Monday, clearing his path to play against Chicago. The rookie first-round draft pick missed four games due to a chest injury sustained earlier in the season.

Before his absence, Price appeared in three games and rushed for 119 yards on 28 carries alongside 21 receiving yards on four catches. To create space for Price on the 53-man roster, Seattle waived running back Robert Henry Jr., who had previously been signed off the Washington practice squad.

While Macdonald initially kept personnel plans for the rookie under wraps during Saturday’s press conference, the roster move on game day confirms his availability alongside Charbonnet. The dual returns give Seattle an influx of backfield depth alongside Wilson and Holani, who shouldered nearly all of the rushing duties while the top two backs recovered.

Offensive Line Adjustments and Injury Reports

Seattle’s offense absorbs significant personnel changes beyond the backfield. General manager John Schneider acquired eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts, sending a 2027 third-round draft pick and a 2028 fifth-round pick to Indianapolis. Nelson draws the start at left guard against Chicago, pushing Grey Zabel to right guard and relegating former starter Anthony Bradford to a backup role.

The Seahawks also face critical absences on the roster. Wide receiver and return specialist Rashid Shaheed misses the game with a knee injury, while backup running back Velus Jones Jr. is out with a hamstring issue. Outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu is listed as doubtful due to an ankle injury.

Additional names listed as questionable by the team include quarterback Drew Lock with a right elbow issue, linebacker Patrick O’Connell with a toe injury, and defensive tackle Brandon Pili with a back injury. Despite the injuries across the roster, the defense aims to maintain momentum following a commanding 20-3 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7.
