two voluntary power cuts in France on Thursday

by time news

The CGT Energie “claims” this cut, indicated Claude Martin, federal secretary of the FNME-CGT, who evoked a “cut very limited in time, less than two hours”.

Two voluntary and limited power cuts were recorded in France by the electricity distribution network manager Enedis on Thursday, on the sidelines of the strikes against the pension reform project, in Massy (Essonne) and Chaumont (Haute-Marne).

The CGT had warned of power cuts targeted at municipalities of elected officials favorable to the reform, which the government had condemned, judging them “unacceptable in democracy“. These two cuts affected Massy at the start of the morning and Chaumont, prefecture, for a good part of the morning, according to Enedis who mentioned “suspected malicious acts»: «these were voluntary cuts, they were not cuts due to work“, indicated the management to AFP.

1100 customers reached

In Massy, some 1,100 customers were affected, according to Enedis. The station manipulated to cause this cut feeds “approximately 2,200 customers, including customers from an industrial area“, according to the prefecture of Essonne, which indicates that the cut lasted from 06:30 to 08:00. The CGT Energy “claimsThis cut, said Claude Martin, federal secretary of the FNME-CGT, which according to him mainly affected companies:it was just to send a message, that we had our hands on the network“, he concluded.

«I find it always regrettable that this kind of action is carried out, but the impact has been very limited. The intention was more symbolic than malicious“, told AFP the mayor of Massy, Nicolas Samsoen (UDI). “Enedis guarded the site. There are now people to monitor the post in Massy, so that this does not happen again.“The cut in Chaumont affected the buildings of the prefecture, the departmental council, the regional council, the town hall and the academic inspection, specifies Enedis. The first cuts took place from 6:30 a.m. and the supply of electricity to the last buildings was restored at 11:30 a.m., according to Enedis.

Strikes: Enedis will file a complaint in the event of power cuts

«At 8:00 a.m., when the first agents arrived, there was no electricity, no heating internet. Everything was restored around 11 a.m.“, told AFP the cabinet of the mayor of Chaumont. Enedis, which strongly condemns these actions, indicated that it would file a complaint, as it does systematically, with the police and the gendarmerie.

«Enedis obviously respects the right to strike but strongly condemns any malicious act on the public electricity distribution network, which in no way reflects its public service values.added the company. “In the event of malicious acts on the electrical network, Enedis quickly calls in teams of technicians to restore the situation as quickly as possible for the customers affected.“, she concluded.
