1914 – Austria-Hungary presented an ultimatum to Serbia due to the assassination of the heir to the empire, the archduke in Sarajevo Franz Ferdinand. Serbia rejected one of the 10 points of the ultimatum. On July 28, 1914, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, which marked the beginning of the First World War.
