Two young men riding a scooter died in Limoges (Haute-Vienne) after hitting a vehicle. The accident occurred following a refusal to comply on the night of Saturday to Sunday, we learned from police sources, confirming information from the Actu17 site.

According to the version of the facts given by the police, the two-wheeler fled at the sight of a BAC vehicle which was about to check it. A chase would have started, before the police gave up. The scooter then ran through a red light, violently hitting a third-party vehicle that was turning green, which killed the 16-year-old miner on the handlebars of the two-wheeler. His passenger, an adult, died in hospital.

One month after Nahel’s death

According to these police sources, the two young people were traveling on a powerful Yamaha T-Max scooter and the police would have “quickly put an end” to the chase, “deeming the situation too dangerous”.

The Haute-Vienne prefecture did not wish to comment, referring to the Limoges prosecutor’s office, which must communicate on the case during the day. According to Actu17, scuffles occurred in Limoges after this accident, before a return to calm.

These two deaths come just over a month after the death at the end of June of young Nahel, 17, killed after refusing to comply in Nanterre. His death sparked several nights of urban violence in the country. They were marked by clashes between rioters and the police, scenes of looting, firing of fireworks at public buildings and fires.
