China’s CCTV is broadcasting live footage of Typhoon Gaemi’s path and images of Pingtan County, Fujian Province, through its online account.

China is on high alert as Typhoon Gaemi, the third typhoon of the year, passes Taiwan and heads towards Fujian Province in southeastern China.

According to China Central Television and other sources on the 25th, as of 5:00 AM on that day, Typhoon Gaemi was moving north about 110km southeast of Pingtan County, Fujian Province, China.

Typhoon Gaemi is expected to move north at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometers per hour and make landfall in the Shuyu to Lianjiang areas of Fujian Province this afternoon to night.

Heavy rain is falling in southern Zhejiang, most of Fujian, and eastern Guangdong due to the northward movement of ants.

Accordingly, the Chinese meteorological authorities are maintaining the typhoon red warning that was issued the morning of the previous day. They have also issued red warnings for waves and storms.

In Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, production, work, and classes were suspended for 24 hours from 1:00 on the 25th, and in Changnan City, Zhejiang Province, tourist sites along the coast were temporarily closed.

Most areas, including Wuxi and Wenzhou, announced that they would suspend high-speed rail and passenger ship operations.

Ahead of the Chinese landing, damage caused by ants continues to be reported in Taiwan.

Taiwanese local media, including Taiwan United Daily, cited the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and reported that as of 8 a.m. today, two people had died and 279 people were injured in Taiwan due to Typhoon Gaemi.

A whopping 1,049 mm of rain fell in Taiping Mountain, Yilan County. The cumulative rainfall in Heping, Hualien County was recorded at 674.5 mm.

Additionally, a cargo ship sank off the coast of Taiwan, leaving nine Myanmar nationals missing.
