U-17 Women’s World Cup: First quarter-final matches today

Navi Mumbai: The league rounds of the first ever U17 Women’s World Cup in India have concluded. A total of 16 teams were divided into 4 divisions and played in the league round. India, Morocco, Chile, New Zealand, Mexico, China, Canada and France, which are hosting the tournament, were eliminated in the league round. India lost all the 3 matches they played. At the same time, United States, Brazil from Group A, Germany, Nigeria from Group B, Colombia, Spain from Group C, Japan and Tanzania from Group D advanced to the quarterfinals.

After a two-day break, the quarter-finals begin today. The first match of the evening pits USA against Nigeria women’s teams. The 2nd quarter-final will be played between Germany and Brazil in the night. Both these matches will be played in Navi Mumbai city. Colombia-Tanzania in the 3rd quarter-final in Goa tomorrow evening and Japan-Spain in the last quarter-final at night. The winning teams will qualify to play in the semi-final matches on October 26. The final match will be played on October 30 in Navi Mumbai.
