| U.S. Open Tennis: Serena Ready

New York: Starting Monday, the U.S. Danka Kovinic is the first opponent of former champion Serena Williams in the Open Tennis Grand Slam. Serena, who owns 23 Grand Slam titles Retiring with open arms.

40-year-old Serena won the 1999 U.S. Open. The Grand Slam hunt begins with the winner of the Open. After passing the first round, Serena will face Estonia’s Anette Kontaveet. Serena shares Margaret Court’s record of 23 Grand Slams. Serena is hoping to end her career with a new record by winning the title.

According to the order of competition, the star will face Canada’s 14th seed Leia Fernandez in the third round. Last U.S. Leah is the runner up in the open. Tunisia’s Ons Jabour may also be Serena’s opponent in the pre-quarters. Maria Zakari, the third seed of Greece, and Simona Halup, the seventh seed of Romania, are also likely to stand in the way of Serena. French Open champion Iga Swiatek of Poland, Paola Badosa, Jessica Pegula and Ariana Sabalanka are in a draw. Defending champion Emma Raducanu is likely to face Japan’s Naomi Osaka in the early rounds.

In the men’s category, defending champion Daniil Medvedev of Russia will face Stefan Kozlov of the US in the first round. Former number one Rafael Nadal of Spain will face Australia’s Ringi Hijakata. Nadal, who owns 22 Grand Slams, has won the U.S. Dreaming of a fifth Open title. Britain’s Cameron Norrie and compatriot Carlos Alcarez will be in Nadal’s way.
