U.S. Writer Bell Hooks has died

Washington: Bell Hooks, American writer, feminist and social activist, has died at the age of 69. Her real name is Gloria Jean Watkins. She died Wednesday at her home in Kentucky.

Stood for the upliftment of black women. ‘Eint I A Woman’, released in 1981, gained world attention. The theme was the gender discrimination faced by black women and the racism in feminism. Other major works include Feminist Theory: From Margin to Center (1984), All About Love: New Visions (2000), and The Real Cool: Black Men and Muscularity (2004).
