Abu Dhabi: UAE announces new labor laws The UAE has announced a new labor law aimed at bridging the gap between the public and private sectors. The new labor law is a unification of government and private employment systems. The new labor law stipulates that leave, after-service benefits and working hours allowance will be the same for both sectors. The new labor law was announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Repatriation.

Employees working in the public and private sectors in the UAE will now be entitled to the same leave. The decision will take effect on February 2, 2022. Both regions receive 30 days of annual leave and general leave. In addition, public and private sector employees are entitled to 60 days maternity leave and five days paternity leave. It is also suggested that employees not be fired for taking maternity leave. Female employees can combine their maternity leave and any other approved leave.
