Dubai UAE names Interpol president for next four years The representative was elected. UAE Maj. Gen. Ahmed Nasser al-Raisi, a senior police official at the Interior Ministry, will be the new chairman of the Global Police. The election was held at Interpol’s annual meeting in Istanbul. Maj. Gen. Ahmed Nasser al-Raisi will serve as the head of the Global Crime Fighting Agency, headquartered in Lyon, France.

Ahmed al-Raisi is the first person from the Gulf to take over the position since the founding of Interpol. Secretary-General Jurgen Stoke, who oversees Interpol’s day-to-day operations, welcomed the new appointment.
