Abu Dhabi ∙ UAE cargo ship hijacked by Houthi rebels in Yemen. The incident took place at 11.57 last night near Al Hudaydah on the west coast of Yemen. A Saudi coalition spokesman, Colonel Turki al-Malkhi, said the cargo ship, which had a UAE flag, had been hijacked. The Dwabi was carrying hospital equipment from the Yemeni island of Socotra to the Saudi port of Jazan.

The ship was carrying an ambulance, communications equipment, technical and security equipment used at the Saudi Field Hospital in Socotra. The coalition has accused the Houthi rebels of piracy, a terrorist attack on maritime and international trade. Allied spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki said the ship should be released immediately or face military action.
