Dubai: The UAE has announced a 50 per cent reduction in traffic fines in five emirates ahead of the Golden Jubilee celebrations. The emirates of Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Sharjah, Umm al-Quwain and Fujairah were given a 50 per cent rebate for traffic violations.

In Ras Al Khaimah, the fines will be reduced from December 5 to January 3. Those who have been fined can benefit from speed limits, vehicle overturns and those who get black points in various road rules.

In Ajman, the benefit of the penalty reduction will be available from November 21 to December 31. The exemption applies to all traffic offenses in the emirate of Ajman, including black points and seizure of vehicles. Serious violations such as driving in a manner that endangers the life of others and altering the engine and chassis of the vehicle are not covered under this benefit. Payment can be made through the Home Ministry application, Ajman Police Smart Application, website, Sahel Electronic Payment or directly at Ajman Police Service Centers or through Smart Payment Channels.

Sharjah will be free of fines from November 21 to January 31. Exemptions are applicable for offenses registered before November 21. The exemption is for vehicles that do not commit serious traffic offenses, do not receive black points and are not seized.

Umm al-Quwain is exempt from fines from December 1 to January 6. The fine can be paid through the Home Ministry and Umm Al Quwain Police Smart App, Website and the Police Service Center.

Fujairah is exempt from traffic fines before November 25. The fine can be paid within 50 days from November 28 with a 50% discount.
