Abu Dhabi: Banks in the UAE will operate six days a week, including Friday, the central bank said. The Central Bank of the UAE said in a circular to all banks in the country yesterday that all banks operating in the country should be open to the public for at least five hours on weekdays. It will come into effect from January 2, 2022.

The Central Bank of India (RBI) has issued a circular re-determining the working days of banks in the country following the announcement of a change in the weekend of government institutions in the UAE. It is up to the respective banks to decide what the working hours should be. The circular also directed that the administration and back office of the banks should be regulated in accordance with the laws of the country.

But the new notice will not apply during the month of Ramadan. The Central Bank will issue special instructions regarding working hours during Ramadan. The Central Bank has also canceled the 2003 notice on working hours of bank branches in commercial centers across the country and the 1992 circular on the operation of banks.
