Dubai: Heavy rains and hailstorms occurred in all the emirates of the UAE on Monday morning. Heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning started at 3:30 am. It continued to rain in Dubai and Abu Dhabi emirates till five o’clock. After a short break, the intensity of the rain decreased by 11 am. Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah experienced heavy rain. The intensity of rainfall was comparatively less in the area of Umm Al Khain and Ajman.
Work from home has been announced for government institutions and private institutions in the UAE today. Schools and colleges are allowed to work from home. Bad weather is forecast till Wednesday. Wind gusts of up to 70 kmph are also expected. Terminals 1 and 3 flooded at Dubai Airport. Due to waterlogging, traffic was disrupted in many places in Dubai. Water has entered many buildings and the parking lot.
Rain accompanied by hail in Fujairah and Al Ain. Al Ain had the most hailstorms. The hailstorm was such that even the windows of the cars were broken.
