UAW’s Expanded Strike Targets 38 GM and Stellantis Distribution Sites, Raising Concerns for Consumers

by time news

The United Auto Workers (UAW) union has announced an expanded strike, targeting 38 General Motors (GM) and Stellantis distribution sites across the country. UAW President Shawn Fain declared the strike on Friday, shutting down facilities that deliver parts needed by car dealers for repairs. The strike has already affected around 13,000 workers, and the addition of the new targets brings the total to 18,625 workers walking out. Fain has described the strike as a defining moment for the union to fight for better wages and working conditions, and to regain concessions made during the Great Recession. However, this move comes with risks and could potentially harm consumers and the automakers’ profits.
