Uber beats forecasts for best quarter ever

Uber released its results for the fourth quarter of last year on Wednesday (8). The company managed to surpass analysts’ estimates and closed 2022 with its strongest quarter everdestacou o CEO Dara Khosrowshahi

  • The revenue gain was US$ 8.6 billion against US$ 8.49 billion expected by analysts, a jump of 49% compared to the same period of the previous year.
  • Net income was US$ 595 million and gross bookings reached US$ 30.7 billion, an increase of 19%.
  • The company’s mobility segment recorded revenue of US$ 4.1 billion, while the delivery segment (Uber Eats) received US$ 2.9 billion.
  • As The company’s shares rose about 2.5% after the announcement.

It is worth remembering that Uber Eats was very important during the pandemic, but again lost ground to the transport app in the first, second and third quarters of last year, when passengers returned to take more trips.

For the first quarter of 2023, Uber expects to maintain the positive balance with growth between 20% and 24% in gross bookings.

The CEO took the opportunity to point out that the impacts of the pandemic on business were left behind, with a record of 2 billion trips in a single quarter for the first time (about 1 million trips per hour).

In all, 2.1 billion trips were completed, 19% more than the previous year. The number of monthly active consumers on the platform also rose to 131 million, an 11% jump.
