Ubisoft Targeted by Hackers Following Insomniac Games Attack

In the wake of a massive ransomware attack against Insomniac Games, Ubisoft has come forward as the latest victim of cybercriminals. The European company confirmed that hackers attempted to steal almost 1 terabyte of data in a recent security breach.

According to a report from VX-Underground, the hackers were able to access Ubisoft’s Microsoft Teams, Confluence, and SharePoint for approximately 48 hours before the breach was detected and access was revoked. Fortunately, it seems that the attack did not result in major consequences, as the hackers were unable to fully carry out their plan to exfiltrate the 900 GB of data that was targeted.

This news comes just days after the leak of a playable build of the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine and other sensitive information from Insomniac Games, leaving the studio and its employees reeling from the fallout. The repercussions of a successful cyberattack on a major gaming company highlight the ongoing battle against cyber threats in the entertainment industry.

While the alleged Beyond Good & Evil 2 screenshots continue to circulate online, Ubisoft is currently investigating the incident and working to ensure the security of its data and systems. In response to the attack, the studio reassured the public that they remain focused on delivering quality gaming experiences, despite the challenges posed by the recent breach.
