An English newspaper report stated today, Monday, that the journey of English referee Anthony Taylor in the European Nations Championship “Euro 2024” ended with him leading the Spain and Germany match.
The Spanish national team outperformed its German counterpart by two goals to one in the quarter-final match. The match witnessed strong objections from the “Mannschaft” as they demanded a penalty kick after a handball by Marc Cucurella, the Spanish defender.
According to the British newspaper, “Daily Express”, UEFA decided to exclude Taylor from the semi-final and final matches.
She added that with the appointment of Slovenian Slavko Vincic to manage the Spain-France match, it was natural to exclude Taylo from managing the England-Netherlands match.
Also, if England qualify for the final, Taylor will not be in the match.
The German press harshly criticised the English referee, and Germany’s assistant coach, Sandro Wagner, went to Taylor’s room to demand an explanation for not awarding the penalty kick and showing him a red card.
