Paris: UEFA has provided one million euros in aid to children seeking refuge in war-torn Ukraine and neighboring countries. The UEFA fund will be spent on children through the Moldova Football Association. In addition, essential items, including medicines, will be distributed to children’s hospitals in Ukraine.

The UEFA Foundation for Children was formed to protect their rights and to provide such assistance. Their services are available in all areas including health, education and sports. The foundation was started in 2015 under the laws of Switzerland.

In the wake of Russia’s occupation of Ukraine, World Athletics banned athletes from Russia and Belarus from competing. The decision to ban the athletes was made at a meeting of the World Athletics Board. All athletes, support staff and officials from Russia and Belarus will be banned from all competitions related to world athletics.
