The fighters of UFC 304 have gained extra motivation for the event taking place on Saturday (27) in Manchester (UK). During the pre-show press conference, Dana White agreed to double the amount normally paid by the organization to the winners of the performance bonuses for this edition.
The change made by the president of the Ultimate came after a request made by lightweight (70 kg) Bobby Green, supported by the other fighters present at the press conference this Thursday (25).
With this, the athletes awarded performance bonuses at UFC 304 will receive 100 thousand dollars (about R$ 564 thousand) instead of the traditional 50 thousand dollars (approximately R$ 282 thousand). The news was confirmed by the site ‘MMA Junkie’ along with the organization.
Generous boss?
This is not the first time that the top brass of the Ultimate has decided to increase the remuneration for its athletes’ performance bonuses in recent months. At UFC 300 in April, the company awarded the highlights of the centennial show 300 thousand dollars for each bonus winner (around R$ 1.7 million at current exchange rates).
At UFC 303, held in June, two extra prizes were distributed to the fighters – totaling six performance bonuses awarded to the main highlights of the edition. Notably, Brazilian Alex Poatan, one of the ‘Performance of the Night’ winners at the show, was rewarded with 303 thousand dollars (approximately R$ 1.7 million).
