Uijeongbu City, creating a city good for raising children by promoting various child care policies!

by times news cr

Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) is actively promoting various child care policies to overcome the low birth rate problem.

Specifically, we are preparing to make a leap forward as a city good for raising children through ▲childcare facility cooperation districts (clusters), ▲childcare integrated centers, ▲childcare integrated infrastructure (platform), and ▲childcare forest experience centers.

□ Comprehensive child care foundation (platform) ‘Child care facility cooperation district (cluster)’

The Childcare Facility Cooperation District (cluster) is the nation’s best comprehensive childcare infrastructure (platform) that provides integrated infant/toddler care, elementary care, and education functions by gathering various childcare facilities in one place.

In the cooperative district (cluster), various child care facilities such as ▲ public daycare centers ▲ children’s libraries ▲ together care centers ▲ 24-hour care centers ▲ children’s playgrounds ▲ toy libraries ▲ indoor playgrounds are installed together to provide comprehensive care services.

It is currently being promoted with the goal of operating in June 2026, and it is expected that the child care facility cooperative district (cluster) will provide convenient and diverse activity spaces for children and caregivers, while also alleviating the financial burden.

□ Eliminating blind spots in care… ‘Integrated Child Care Center’

The city is also promoting the establishment of an ‘Integrated Child Care Center’ to eliminate blind spots in care and establish a regional emergency and temporary care system.

It reflects the reality that it is impossible to meet the increasingly diverse demands for care, as the demand for care is increasing due to changes in the child-rearing environment, such as the increase in dual-income households.

The integrated child care center, which is scheduled to be operational in 2025, will consist of ▲ a playground for moms ▲ a care center for all, with a total area of 629.5㎡ on the 1st and 2nd floors above ground.

It is expected to create an environment where parents can raise their children with peace of mind by providing integrated care services for children, including play, rest, and health, and it will also help expand local jobs through the hiring of care workers.

□ Care-related information at a glance… ‘Integrated child care foundation (platform)’

Additionally, the city has established an ‘integrated child care platform’ where information on child care facilities can be checked at a glance.

You can check by clicking on Children and Youth/Child Care under Life Cycle Services on the first screen of the City Hall Nurijib (homepage) or by clicking on Welfare/Children and Youth/Child Care under Field Information at the top.

The platform is comprised of a community care center, a local children’s center, a child care community, a small child care library, and an elementary school care classroom.

For each facility, the target child age and services provided are listed so that users can obtain the information they need by type.

□ Nature communication forest education program… ‘Children’s Forest Experience Center’

The city is operating a free ‘Forest Education Program’ that promotes mental and physical stability through communication with nature.

It is held for children before school age at the Omok Culture Forest Experience Center (Minrak-dong) and the Cheongsa Chorong Forest Experience Center (Singok-dong).

This program is a course that promotes the holistic growth of children from 3 years of age and older before school age through play utilizing the forest and nature. It is operated as a regular program for early childhood education organizations such as kindergartens and daycare centers, and as an autonomous participation program where children can experience autonomously under the guidance of daycare teachers.

As part of the ‘Uijeongbu Upgrade Project’ to improve the living environment of citizens, an additional Jikdong Neighborhood Park Children’s Forest Experience Center will be created in the Jikdong Neighborhood Park near the Uijeongbu Tax Office by the end of this year.

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “The low birth rate problem has become increasingly serious recently, and Uijeongbu is no exception,” and added, “In order to overcome the low birth rate, we will do our best to create a ‘Uijeongbu that is good for raising children’ through proactive childcare policies.”
