Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on July 9 that the Jangam-dong Residents’ Autonomy Association (Chairman Park Beom-seo) held the ‘2024 Jangam-dong Residents’ General Meeting’.
This event, held in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the Jangam-dong Community Center, was attended by approximately 100 people, including Jangam-dong residents, Mayor Kim Dong-geun, and city council members.
The general meeting of residents is a public forum where the autonomous plan established by the resident autonomy council is announced and next year’s business plan is decided through a vote of residents. Any local resident can participate.
Continuing from last year, this year, online early voting was conducted for 15 days using QR codes for residents who were unable to participate in on-site voting.
The residents’ general meeting that day began with a lively congratulatory performance by a line dance team comprised of students from the residents’ self-government program.
This was followed by sharing the progress of the projects decided at last year’s general meeting and this year’s resident self-government activities, an introduction to the 2025 self-government plan, and a resident vote, and it ended successfully with a congratulatory performance by the ukulele band.
As a result of the referendum, two projects were selected with the most votes as the 2025 autonomous plan (village project): ‘Anabada Market when Buckwheat Flowers Bloom’ and ‘Jangam Village Green Barley Festival.’
Among the resident participation budget projects implemented by the business department in 2025, the ‘Dongmakgol Guldari Wooden Staircase Maintenance’ project was passed with the approval of more than half of the residents present, including online voting.
Chairman Park Beom-seo said, “It is very meaningful for residents to directly hold events that reflect their opinions in policies and to see the projects develop further,” adding, “We will continue to work hard to become a resident self-governing council that discovers agenda items that are essential for our neighborhood.”
Lee Jae-jin, the head of the neighborhood association, said, “I would like to thank the residents who attended the general meeting of residents and the neighborhood autonomy council,” and added, “Jangam-dong will also spare no support to realize the autonomy plan decided through precious votes.”
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “The general meeting of residents is the flower of local autonomy where residents themselves decide on the autonomous plans necessary for our neighborhood,” and added, “We will continue to actively support the realization of true local autonomy.”
